Dr. Y. Vincent Yoshida

Dr. Y. Vincent Yoshida
Vince Yoshida was born in Greenwood, B.C. but later moved to Vancouver where he attended Gladstone Secondary, then UBC.  There he attained a B.Sc. in Biochemistry before graduating with a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the UBC dental school in 1971. 

Upon graduation, he opened his dental practice in the East Vancouver Medical building where he remains today.  He has maintained many familiar faces on staff over the years and expanded his practice with extended services after a recent extensive remodeling and renovation of the office.

Dr. Yoshida is very physically active, training for and competing in triathlons with the North Shore and the Pacific Spirit triathlon clubs.  More recently he has also taken up ice hockey.  Dr. Yoshida enjoys cooking in his spare time and his staff will tell you that he is exceptional at preparing a variety of delicious salmon recipes as well as the office favorite, “Vince’s Famous Tossed Salad.”

Dr. Yoshida is constantly expanding his knowledge in dentistry with the many study clubs that he attends.  These include:

  • Prosthodontics (Dr. Craig Naylor)
    restorative dentistry
  • Periodontics (Dr. Jim Grisdale): gum surgery
  • Endodontics (Dr. Hugh Maguire)  root canals
  • Cerec  (rotating guest experts)  fabricating porcelain restorations
  • Implant (rotating mentors) surgical implants and subsequent restorations

Dr. Yoshida continues to enjoy his work and looks forward many more years in practice.

Faye

Faye
Faye has been a C.D.A.in this office since her graduation and the beginning of Dr.Yoshida’s career – hence the nick-name, “Mama Faye” for this familiar and friendly face. She has her certification from both the orthodontic and prosthodontic module courses. Faye is also qualified in the design of full porcelain crowns utilizing the new computerized “Cerec” technology.  She attends the periodontic study club, learning the latest techniques in gum surgery. Faye is of Chinese heritage and speaks Cantonese.  She is also a marathon runner who enjoys yoga and taking on the Grouse “Grind” on a weekly basis. She is also the supportive mother of two grown sons.

Cidalia

Cidalia
“Cid” has been our receptionist since 1981.  It is her friendly voice and smiling face that will be the first to greet you at our office.  She was born in Portugal and is fluent in Portuguese.  She is the proud mother of four talented, musical children and enjoys reading and traveling.

Michelle

Michelle
Michelle has been working at our office since graduating as a C.D.A from Douglas College in 1988.  She assists Dr. Yoshida with the prosthodontic study club and is also trained in Cerec design. She is French-Canadian and the mother of three. She enjoys gardening and on her days off keeps busy tending to their hobby farm/nursery in Maple Ridge. She takes advantage of her commuting time on the Westcoast Express to catch up on reading her favorite mystery novels.

Jason

Jason
Jason joined Dr. Yoshida’s team as a hygienist back in 2003.   Since graduating from dental hygiene in Ontario in 1994 he has worked in a variety of practice settings — in northern B.C., Ontario and in the lower mainland.  He continues to learn through online courses and lectures.  Jason is a competitive rower.  In his spare time he enjoys biking, reading and cooking.

Lynn

Lynn
Lynn is a Saskatchewan native and mother of one son.  The family is very active in sports.  Not only do they enjoy playing but also cheering each other on during hockey, baseball games and other outdoor activities.  She enjoys reading in her spare time and on her commute to work.  Lynn is the C.D.A. who attends the monthly endodontic study club with Dr. Yoshida as part of her continuing education.

Sabrina

Sabrina
Sabrina comes to us from Vancouver Island where she completed the hygiene program at Camosun College.  Previous to that, Sabrina practiced as a C.D.A. for 6 years. Growing up she was a competitive figure skater who competed at the provincial level as well as instructed. Sabrina is of Italian heritage, speaks Italian, and enjoys cooking a variety of Italian and other ethnic cuisine.When she is not working four days a week at Dr. Yoshida’s office she enjoys working out at the gym and hanging out with friends.
